Plans and Product Limits

How many products SearchX indexes for your eshop, what happens when your feed is larger than that, and how the order of your feed decides which products stay searchable.

Overview

Each eshop is on a plan, and the plan sets one thing: how many products we index.

PlanProducts indexed
CoreUp to 20,000
GrowthUp to 50,000
ScaleUp to 100,000
EnterpriseCustom, agreed with our team

Every plan includes every feature. Searches are unlimited on all of them.

What counts as a product

One valid product in your XML feed: a row we can read and index, which then becomes one searchable result.

Rows we cannot use do not count towards your limit. If a row is missing a title, a link or a price, it is reported to you on the import errors page and skipped. Fixing those rows makes them count; until then they are neither indexed nor charged against your plan.

A product listed twice under the same identifier counts once. We match on the product's unique identifier, so repeated entries update the same product rather than consuming two places.

When your feed is larger than your plan

Nothing breaks, and nothing is switched off.

We index the first products in your feed, in feed order, up to your plan's limit. Search keeps working on those. The products beyond the limit are skipped: they are not stored and not searchable, and they are not listed as import errors, because nothing is wrong with them.

You will see:

  • a banner on every tab of the application, with the exact number of products your feed contains;
  • the same numbers on the Plan card and next to the products import;
  • one email, sent when this first happens, not on every scan afterwards.

It clears by itself

The next import that fits within your limit clears the banner and the email state. Upload a smaller feed or move to a larger plan and the message goes away on the following scan.

Feed order decides what stays searchable

This is the part worth acting on.

We read your feed from top to bottom and index until we reach your limit. If your feed has 25,000 products on a Core plan, the first 20,000 in the file are searchable and the last 5,000 are not.

That means the order of your feed is a decision, not an accident:

  • ✅ Put your best sellers, newest arrivals and highest-margin products first
  • ❌ Do not leave discontinued or out-of-stock products at the top of the file

Most feed generators let you sort. If yours does not, the simplest fix is usually to exclude products you do not want searchable rather than to reorder everything — a smaller feed that fits your plan is always better than a large one that gets cut.

During the free trial

Every plan indexes up to 20,000 products during the 14-day free trial, whichever plan you pick.

If you are trialling Growth or Scale with a larger catalogue, you will see the over-limit message during the trial. That is expected: your full plan limit applies as soon as the eshop goes live, and the next import after that indexes the rest.

Changing plan

You can change plan at any time, in either direction, from the Plan card on your application's settings page.

  • Moving up takes effect as soon as the pro-rata difference for the rest of your billing period is paid, which with a working card is a matter of seconds. The new limit applies straight away and we start importing the products you were missing, without waiting for the next scheduled scan. If the payment does not go through, nothing changes: you stay on your current plan and the Plan card tells you what to do next.
  • Moving down takes effect at the end of your current billing period. Until then you keep your current plan and its limit, and from the next invoice you pay the new plan. There is no refund or credit for the time remaining. You can cancel a scheduled downgrade from the Plan card until it takes effect. When it does, the index is reduced to the new limit at the next import.

During the free trial there is no billing period yet, so a plan change in either direction applies immediately and costs nothing.

Some applications are managed by our team: those on Enterprise, and those where we have agreed a custom product limit with you. On those the Plan card shows a note instead of a selector, so that an agreement cannot be replaced by accident. Contact us and we will change it for you.

Checking your limit from the API

The application endpoint returns a read-only plan object:

curl -X GET "https://admin.searchxengine.ai/api/v2/applications/YOUR_APP_ID" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"
{
  "plan": {
    "tier": "growth",
    "max_products": 50000,
    "effective_max_products": 50000,
    "last_feed_products_count": 64000,
    "limit_exceeded": true
  }
}

effective_max_products is the limit in force right now — the same as max_products, except during the trial when it is capped at 20,000. See the Applications API for the full reference.
